Counselors will be presenting the Course Registration Process and Guidelines to our current 9th-11th grade students in the lecture hall via their English classes on Feb 24th - March 3rd. The presentation takes about 60 minutes and covers course load/expectations, new course offerings, unique class offerings, and teaches the students how to look up their credit summary on Aeries and understand what classes they still need to take to graduate from high school. Students are also shown how to register for their courses online via Aeries.

We are excited to announce that students will have the opportunity to take 7 classes next year and take advantage of our many new course offerings!  To showcase our new and existing elective courses, we will be offering an Elective Fair on March 10th during break and lunch.  We ask that students take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about their elective options before selecting their courses for the 2016-2017 school year.

Students must turn in their contracts to the counseling office or their English classes on March 17th (2-4-6 English classes) or March 18th (1-3-5 English classes).  Forms can be dropped off to the counseling office before then, if preferred.  All forms must have a parent/guardian signature and classes must be entered online prior to being turned in.  Students can make changes to their course selections until May 27th, via their counselor.

During the month of March, teachers are encouraged to discuss their recommendations for next year with their classes and individual students. This is the opportunity to help students make informed choices based on the expectations and rigor of higher level courses. Having a clear understanding of what it takes to be successful in these courses, often helps students make wiser choices. Stressing balance in their schedule is also important in helping them understand what it takes to be an overall successful student. Although the counselors will meet with all students in groups and with many students individually, teachers see them every day and may be more influential in their discussions. Even after March, students have until May 27 to change their courses so teachers can continue to answer questions and help students make informed decisions about their class choices.
